Self-improvement: How to handle Stress-related disorders

What is a stress-related disorder?

There are severe stress-related disorders that have an impact on day to day life. Some examples are PTSD, ASD and AD. Some are worse than others. But each type of stress-related disorder is caused by traumatic events that have had a negative impact on an individual. This can be pressure in situations, a heightened sense of fear and anxiety caused by people or situations.

Affects:

These disorders can affect someone mentally and physically and can be induced either of these ways. Also, an individual would experience flashbacks causing panic to arise.

With any stress-related disorder, emotional reactions and responses will be heightened. They will occur more often than a logical and composed response.

Obstacles individuals face with a stress-related disorder:

  • Disturbed sleep patterns
  • Trouble in social dynamics
  • Risk of substance abuse
  • Further Mental Health problems

Human reaction

When we are hurt it is a natural, human response to protect ourselves. And our reactions aren’t as controlled as they would be in an ordinary situation. Traumatic events have traumatic effects.

Depending on what has caused us mental, emotional and physical harm we can react and behave in different ways. Disassociation is one example of what would occur as a result. Adding to that, Social Anxiety develops further by avoiding social situations. It also grows by fearing potential outcomes.

In an emotional state, we aren’t thinking sensibly. We become protective and defensive emotionally. Additionally, we fail to protect our mental health when emotions run high. We also neglect our physical well-being.
